Job Summary: The role is responsible for managing and monitoring day-to-day logistics operations, including shipment tracking, freight comparison, vendor coordination, and timely deliveries. It requires ensuring customer satisfaction through proactive communication, issue resolution, and damage-free delivery of goods. The position also emphasizes cost optimization, supplier performance improvement, and driving sustainability initiatives in the supply chain, while supporting team development and succession planning.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintaining Proper Tracking Record of Shipments in Transit: Ensure that all shipments currently in transit are accurately tracked. Check and update the shipment status on a daily basis to avoid delays and to provide complete visibility of goods movement across the supply chain.
- Comparison of Freights for Part Load Consignments: Regularly evaluate and compare freight charges for part-load consignments to identify cost-effective options while ensuring reliable and timely delivery.
- Comparison and Management of Full Load Bookings for Timely Deliveries: Analyze full-load freight costs and coordinate bookings to achieve both cost-efficiency and adherence to delivery timelines, ensuring operational smoothness.
- Customer Updates and Feedback Through Shipment Tracker: Provide timely feedback and updates to customers by preparing and circulating shipment trackers on a periodic basis, with updates shared at least three times per week.
- Resolving Transportation-Related Issues: Handle and resolve any transportation-related issues with the utmost care, attention, and diligence, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and customer satisfaction.
- Focus on Customer Satisfaction with Proper Service: Uphold customer satisfaction as the primary goal by ensuring efficient services, timely deliveries, and effective communication throughout the transportation process.
- Maintain Necessary Data Regarding Outstanding Bills and Payments of Transporters: Accurately maintain records of transporter bills, track outstanding payments, and ensure proper documentation for financial monitoring and accountability.
- Verification of Freight Bills for Part and Full Load: Review part-load and full-load freight bills by checking them against contract terms. Submit verified bills for payment processing in a timely manner.
- Coordination with Accounts Department for Transporter Payments: Work closely with the accounts department to ensure that transporter and vendor payments are released promptly and in line with contractual agreements.
- Supplier Engagement and Performance Improvement: Build collaborative relationships with transport suppliers, monitor their performance, and implement improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
- Ensuring Timely and Damage-Free Delivery of Goods: Ensure that all goods are delivered to customers within agreed timelines and delivery targets, maintaining strict control to avoid any damage during transit.
- Sustainability in Supply Chain Management with Focus on GHG Reduction: Align supply chain practices with sustainability goals by working with suppliers and customers to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promote eco-friendly logistics practices.
- Logistics Cost Reduction: Continuously identify opportunities to optimize logistics processes and negotiate better rates to reduce overall transportation and logistics costs without compromising service quality.
- Team Training, Development, and Succession Planning: Focus on the training and development of team members to build competencies, while also preparing and implementing a succession plan to secure future leadership and operational continuity.
Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferably B.Com).
- 2-5 years of experience in logistics, SCM or related roles.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and has ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Good communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
