Quality Control Chemist Job Description

Role Overview:

As a Quality Control Chemist, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) produced in the manufacturing plant. You’ll perform various analytical tests, interpret results, and maintain accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analytical Testing:

    • Conduct routine quality control tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished APIs.
    • Utilize techniques such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), UV-Vis spectroscopy, and dissolution testing.
    • Verify compliance with specifications and standards.
  2. Method Validation:

    • Validate and verify analytical methods used for API testing.
    • Ensure precision, accuracy, and reliability of results.
  3. Stability Studies:

    • Participate in stability studies to assess API shelf life and degradation patterns.
    • Monitor samples under various storage conditions.
  4. Documentation and Compliance:

    • Maintain detailed records of all quality control activities.
    • Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and cGMP guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience in quality control within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proficiency in analytical instrumentation and data interpretation.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
